How to care for your diamonds and keep them sparkling

Cleaning, storage, what to avoid: the simple guide to keeping the sparkle of your diamonds and 14-karat gold, including silk-thread bracelets.

How to care for your diamonds and keep them sparkling

Diamonds are forever, sparkle is maintained

A diamond — lab-grown or mined — is unalterable: it does not tarnish, yellow or wear. But it loves light and hates grease: sebum, creams and soaps leave a film that veils its fire. The good news: ten minutes a month are enough to restore all its shine.

The perfect clean, in three steps

A bowl of warm water, a drop of mild washing-up liquid, fifteen minutes of soaking. Then a soft toothbrush, insisting under the stone — that is where the light enters, and where the greasy film builds up. Rinse with clear water, dry with a soft lint-free cloth. That's all. Avoid bleach, chlorine and abrasives, which don't attack the diamond but can alter the gold's alloys.

Good daily reflexes

The jewel goes on last — after perfume, cream, spray. Take it off for the pool (chlorine), the gym (impacts) and housework. And store each piece separately: the diamond, hardest material in the world, scratches everything it touches — including your other jewels.

The special case of silk-thread bracelets

Our TALISMAN bracelets are worn on braided silk thread, designed for daily life. To preserve it: avoid prolonged water (shower, swimming) and perfume directly on the thread. The gold pendant cleans like any gold jewel; the thread can easily be replaced if one day you want to change colour.

And once a year

Have your settings checked by a professional: a diamond doesn't move, but a prong can loosen over the years. Five minutes of checking beat a lost stone.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use an ultrasonic cleaner?

Yes for diamonds set on gold, provided the setting is in good condition. Never for jewels on silk thread or leather.

Does black gold need special care?

A gentle wipe with a cloth is enough; avoid abrasives that could wear the surface treatment.
